A thin cementitious finish may suit some properly prepared surfaces. Substrate stability, moisture and floor height need professional assessment.

For busy homes and workspaces, discuss slip resistance, cleaning, wear, joint details and a compatible protective sealer.

Advice on this page is general and does not replace an on-site inspection or product-specific technical instructions.
Polishing uses an existing or newly placed concrete slab that is mechanically ground and refined. Results depend on concrete quality, exposed aggregate, previous repairs and polishing stages. It is not the same as applying a new thin decorative cement layer.
An overlay introduces a new cement-based finish over a properly prepared substrate, sometimes with relatively low build-up. Its suitability depends on the system, substrate stability, surface moisture, bonding preparation and specialist application.
A trowelled finish can provide a deliberately handcrafted or industrial look. Textured solutions may be more practical where water or slip risk is present. The right result depends on specification, not simply the label “cement flooring”.
Ask which sealer is used, what cleaning products are permitted, whether colour variation is normal and when re-sealing may be needed. Obtain a physical sample where the appearance is critical.
Provide the location, approximate size, existing substrate and look you want to achieve.
